Slavin Chapter 2
Reflection After reading Slavin's work in chapter 2, it has created a lot of new thoughts. It has shown me that there is much more to "just being a good teacher". In order to be a good teacher, you need to understand the science and theories behind it all. You need to understand how students develop into what they are now. The way that children develop cognitively can be influenced by either environmental factors or social factors. I have learned that there are 4 stages to cognitive development. Vygotsky and Bronfenbrenner view development in social aspects. There have been multiple descriptions of how language and literacy are developed in the preschool years vs. the elementary and secondary years.
